I know I'm Berwick ;) I'm nearer to my lovely Harkaway than Narre, but FG is my local shops and have never felt unsafe there, just a feel bit lucky sometimes ;) :D

I agree, theres a big differece between a new surbian estate and regular suburbia. I prefer the latter....but its personal taste,

I have the itch to move rural again now, but the problem is that i want USEABLE acerage and my finances wont get me enough of them. I can afford 6 acres of rural cliff side, but really don't see the point...would rather have 2 useable acres....its a quandry alright.

Well let us know how you go. You're right there is not much around here at 2 and affordable - it's either the main road - or prices suddenly jump. It's also possible that you'd wait a long time before the perfect block comes up! I know people who are looking out at Nar nar goon and Officer to keep prices down but I like the happy medium where it's a bit hilly but not in the midst of the Hills. Conversely there are blocks out past Pakenham too flat..for me it's not just the size of the land - it's the feel of the place and surrounds.

Couple of nice horsey properties around here for sale, one across the road has everything and one down off Hasting Dande been on the market for a while and that one has dropped to nine hundred thousand. Not sure what they want over the road.

We live on over an acre and we can walk to everything, the train, pub, shopping centres, doctors, schools, tennis club and it was great when the children were growing up. Still great for us as we age.

Tyabb and Somerville have a lot of acreage properties around them and if you live on the ridge wonderful views.

I looked at that last week but only 2 acres are cleared and the rest has to be left to bush, also theres no views as such, but let me know of anything else:thumbsup:

Theres 17 acres in officer with views to the bay, but its a fair slope AND its fully bush so land works would be hideous.

If you go past pakenham say to Maryknoll its beautiful, rollling hills and small towns, but my kids would never speak to me again.....now wheres those brochures??;):D

I'd actually like between 5 to 10, but know I'm dreaming!

Petals thats out of budget and not the right area as don't want to move the eldest 2 out of their schools:)

I quite fancy the idea of 30 acres or so out towards Gippy in retirement. But as that is so far off....we're happy to stick here and get the best of all the worlds we know currently.

Have you thought of Macclesfield. Hidden gem. Friends bought 30 acres, 2 houses (one a 4 bed, [2 with fireplace] - 3 living area, 6 toilet with bags of character - high ceilings, 2 massive sheds, one with mezzanine) and another granny house rental on block for 750k!! An interesting 30 acres - the house is on a hill overlooking the road, about 5 acres is a wood which seperates the property into two. The bit around the house is flat pasture land with another section tacked on past the wood. You can camp in the wood by a creek where they have endless pumping rights.

It's not as oppressive as Dandenongs, being on its eastern edge overlooking the Yarra Valley...

I don't mind slopes et cetera as long as some of it is usable and often a slope comes with a view. What I wouldn't want is 10 acres of football field.

Yeah I'm the same, i like SOME slope and SOME bush but not too much of each. Macclesfield is just a bit too far out, Avonsleigh is pushing it... its also very treey in parts too.... *sigh*

Thing is I'm looking at semi retirement but having Flynn so old (:D) has buggered up my plans a bit. That and the fact Leah has decided on a 6 year degree :sneaky: Then again I am only 41, I have to keep reminding myself of that :lol: 141 feels more like it:lol:

Anyone has insight into where the rail lines will be extended to? e.g. From Pakenham will it move to Nar Nar Goon side or somewhere towards the south. Similarly, from Belgrave to where?

In my opinion, rail lines will determine the property hot spots because one can't travel to the city on car.

I doubt it'll be Nar Nar Goon as there is already a V-line station there. Looks like they are building a new station on the existing line on the western side of packenham at cardinia rd so expect new estates to pop up around there.

Given the geography at Belgrave I doubt they'll be extending that either.

Theres been a station propsed for Lakeside for an eternity, but still cant see it yet. Öfficer South" is the new buzz, its basically the flat part of Officer between the Princes and the Monash. Martins correct there is already a V line out to Nar Nar Goon, haven't heard about it extending, but its flat enough, and sparse enough to I suppose

Omg i couldn't belive this post when i read it, you said you were in melbourne and came from blackbur. Well we're from blackburn and could possibly be moving to melbourne as we know some friend that live there... how weird is that. Sorry i just had to reply to that. Where in b'burn did u used to live.
