I just feel there are other parts close by that are a lot better and that a recce is worth doing.

Its Toorak compared to parts of Cranbourne, Noble park or Doveton. Seriously, Narre a shit hole? Nah.....older and suburban, but its not that bad!

hmmm...perhaps I am a tad mean..for me there is something about it which ain't getting better any time soon and there is a sort of bogan edge to it which I feel will get worse. It does what it says on the tin but I feel it is a burb that is not what it was for it's inhabitants 10-15 years ago. Look at the way it gets into the papers for the wrong reasons from time to time.

There's no doubt in my mind that people who can afford it push for Berwick and not Narre...

Nowhere is like it was 10 - 15 years ago, we lived in a small village then and now we are in a town, unfortunately not all the people who have moved here fit in with the village life we remember, but that's life.

I remember when Berwick was a small place with green fields around it, pity they did not keep a green wedge over there.

Over development in a short time with few facilities and strain on roads etc makes for problems.

Still with the numbers of new arrivals each week we cannot expect anything but a sea of houses everywhere.:D

It's why I am glad I live at the end of a valley with no real space for more infrastructure where short of evreyone, and I mean, everyone, subdividing it would be hard to get a sea of roofs.

There's also a way of living here that tends to repel the worst. Of course, there will be bogan blood around. Never seen or heard a burnout in 6 years.

Hopefully now a normal person can buy a house in Melbourne and hopefully house prices will drop to a justified limit (<250K)

My heart goes for green land which will be buried.. Good solution would have been to allow multistorey houses in Zone 2. In the North, Melbourne will reach Hidden Valley very soon

I've recently moved near Fountain Gate. So far, I didn't quite see any big problem. Please enlighten me, if I need to be careful of anything.

You are from a country where a billion people are crammed together like peas in a pod MP. That's not what I am used to though. Hope that is enlightening enough for ya ;-)

What I found interesting about that report was how Inner City places are becoming more affluent compared to the outer wedges. This is even being repeated in London. With the Boroughs of Southwark and Hackney now having overtaken Enfield in it's socio economic makeup. There is now more poverty in Enfield than the Inner city of London.

I wonder what will happen when the real oil crisis hits.

lol.. That was the reason I moved from Moreland to Fountain Gate. Houses here are big and cheap. I was referring to Badge for potential problems like car jacking, knife crime, etc.. So far I'ven't witnessed anything wrong.. Hope it stays peaceful like this.

Well I agree Hevs- it's not exactly a violent crime spot. But as far as trends go, Narre is heading down I think compared to the better parts of the SE. It often comes up in the papers in the way that neighbouring Berwick does not.

(And you're not Narre - you're Berwick!)

To the board - I'm not a fan of suburbia but that is a personal taste and does not reflect safety, crime levels or how good a suburb is.

About time you came round my place and saw a suburbia you might like better than the new estates!
