Default Melbourne suburbs...again!

I know there are lots of threads on this but can anyone recommend a nice family friendly suburb that has nice local shops and schools all potentially walkable as my OH doesnt drive.

What is your budget and where are you likely to find work?

I am in Point Cook - we are renting a Large 4 bed for $450 per week!

There are shops and a number of schools so will have a choice....

It takes me approx 45 mins - 1 hour to drive into CBD in rush hour and approx 20 mins off peak...

There is a big British community here and in Sanctuary Lakes too..

One of the local Real Estate pages:

http://www.pointcookrealestate.com.au/

We moved here in Jan and there is lots for kids to do in the area. It is on the coast, in Werribee there is an open range zoo, large outdoor swimming pool and indoor pool and Altona / Williamstown are within easy driving distance....

There is a new marina and beach development planned for Werribee South which you will see info on the wikipedia pages.

Can't help with any other areas.
