gottogo is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Melbourne suburbs

Can anyone tell me whether any of the Melbourne suburbs (say in South East, Bayside areas) are in any way similar to towns in the UK, eg; have their own individuality, high streets etc? I know you shouldn't be comparing the UK to Oz but this is particularly relevant for young teenagers who need a focal point for example to meet their friends etc.

Mornington is about the best Ive seen, it has its own high street with lots of little bars & cafes.
To be honest though I don't see a lot of teenagers hangng about the high streets, might be because theres plenty of youth / sports clubs to go to. Tennis courts open till 2am sometimes, netball & basketball clubs all over.

Thanks for this info. Hoping to move to Mornington by early next year.
Have friends there (Troood and Paul) but their son is alot younger than our kids and we wondered what was available for their ages.
Thanks.
Do you know anything about schools in this area?

Hi Salsa,

We moved to Mornington last July, we've got two boys 7 and 5, we dont have trouble filling their time. Mornington is a good place to start and so much is available and so accessable from here. I know your friends Troood and Paul as well. We love it down on the Peninsula.

Not really looked at them as are kids are so young, having said that we put ours in a private school in Mt Eliza where they can stay until year 12.
