Default Melbourne - South Yarra

Hi everybody,

Can anyboody comment on the South Yarra suburb?

Does it have adecuate services and transport?

How long would it take to get to the CBD by public transport?

Does it have TRAM services?

Thanks in advance for any info...

South Yarra is a VERY stylish area of Melbourne. It's about 5-7kms from the CBD (depending which part you live in), and number 8 tram runs into CBD down Toorak Rd/Domain Rd. Tram would take about 20-25 mins from, say, South Yarra train station to Flinders St.

There's always lots of property for rent in this area. It's well know for it's many cool and chic bars, restaurants and shops up around Toorak rd/Chapel St. And the suburb borders the Botanical Gardens, which are just beautiful and a nice place to escape the city bustle.

South Yarra is one of the best serviced suburbs public transport wise. The south eastern suburbs are the most heavily populated in Melbourne and South Yarra is kind of a gateway in that sense. The train station is only two stops from Flinders Street and one stop from Richmond and services every line out to the south east. There are loads of tram routes going all over the place as well.

It's also nearby a number of freeways and Citylink.
