Thumbs up Melbourne in September

Oh my god, we (my husband and I) have finally booked our flight mid september and heading off for our new life Down Under in Melbourne!

Has anyone who has been through this got any advice on what to do when we get there? (how to get a tax code, apartment etc, driving licence?)

We will need an apartment in the city first of all. (St. Kilda's I think???)

We are going to ship bits and bobs over but will mainly be starting from scratch.

Is there a checklist or something that you make sure you do before we leave England?

Is it easy enought to pick up some casual work before we find something that we really want to do? (something to pay the rent and food etc).

Is there anyone else out there going the same time?

Any advice would be much appreciated...
