Default melbourne rocks!!

Hi all,
just thought that I would post this to stick up for melbourne, and point out that Oz is a top place to parrrdy!!

went out last night with a few of the girls from the hospital, well it was grand prix w/e!! so we headed in to St Kilda ( a suburb of melbourne..quite boho' and a bit studenty vibe ish) and went to a brilliant pomm pub called The Elephant and Wheelbarrow..where you can buy Boddingtons and decent Stella ON DRAUGHT!!!!!!!!...and it was packed to the rafters with all the grand prix types (noone too famous..we are talking c list techninans here...but they all wore their pit passes!!!! ) although one of the new drivers for some team or other was there.... and there was no bad atmoshere or girly bitchy vibe (infact the guys outnumbered the girls...at least 3 to 1!!!!!....and there was a queue for the lads loos!!) There was a top band playing, called The Sea Monkeys...and they rocked the place, it was so good!! and at about 1am we shimmied outside and(dodging the trams!! a hazard when your tipsy!!!!!) sat opposite Albert Park and had a coffee Latte at 01:15 and it was still warmish to sit outside!!

what a night!!! where else can you do that!!!??

This is the reason I love Australia!!!!!!!

sorry for all of this, its just, I get fed up with the neg postings.

Im off to nurse my hang over. blerrgh...:scared:

check out these sites for info on housing:

www.real-estate.com.au

and www.domain.com.au

these are cool sites and give info on renting/buying in suburbs of melb.

Personally, I wouldnt want to travel an hour in to melbourne every day...the freeways are monstrous at that time of the day...and there is a tollway (citylink) too...there are ace outer suburbs, eg, along the Mornington Peninsula that are fab and cheaper than living in the city...but you have to commute.

I still look at my Lonely Planet guide to melbourne, which gives a description of each area of melb' and its vibe. As with most places, some areas are nicer than others.(!!)

There are excellent train services to the outer suburbs if you dont want to drive...a lot of areas are residents only parking.

i got my pic taken with harold bishop, dee, and if you can remember him Tad.
i also got to walk around albert park just before they held the g.p last year.

Default MELBOURNE ? Best City In The World!!!

Hi everybody!

Im a guy from the Netherlands,
and if i can solve my visa problem (see topic : Dutch guys`visa
cancelled?) im DEFINITLY going to Melbourne, it really rocks!!!.

Like many UK and Dutchies who wants to migrate to Australia
are going one way Sydney or Perth!
Ive been a year in Oz, and ive been in all the Big cities-
but in my opinion you can`t beat Melbourne!.

Why choose Melbourne?

- Melbourne has the best climate for European standards.
- Melbourne is the ONLY multicultural Australian city where
the people still living in harmony ( I`ts amazing!!!).
- Melbourne is the ONLY Australian city with characteristic old
buildings&amazing Art- its such diverse!!! Brilliant!
- For those who like a drink : Melbourne has the best pub culture!
- Melbourne restaurants are famous for brilliant food- and
affordable prices, the diversity is sensational!!!
- Melbourne events are to much to mention : Australian open,
Grand prix, Melbourne Cup, St.Kilda festival, Art&Film&Fashion
festivals, u name it... Melbournes GOT IT!
- Melbourne people have fare more depth in general than the
other big three! A lot of Dutch migrants who are all;ready living
in Aussie complaining about missing `good`conversations-
Not a problem in Melbourne!.
- For those who like skieing (I do) its only a 3 hour drive from
Melbourne!!!.
- Melbourne has EVERYTHING within reach, it`s size is perfect-
- Melbourne has heaps of great suburbs :
Toorak&South yarra : Fantastic&Stylish and too many beautiful
public gardens to mention!
St.Kilda : Very fashionable&trendy together with Port Philip bay-
you never wanna leave!!
Fitzroy : More alternative ( simulair to Camden Market in London
but without the crowd&crime)
Brighton : Beatiful and clean and affordable
Carlton : If you like terrace houses!
The list is too long...

This is Melbourne!!! I LOVED it!.

Mab!
The Netherlands.
