Melbourne - places to live

I'm going to start work for North Western Mental Health in January, either Sunshine Hospital, Western Hospital or the Royal Melboune (not verified yet) and want to find a nice place to live. Ideally near the coast within 40 mins travel to the hospital by public transport or car.
Can anybody advise please.
