Hey there,

We'll be down there on a PR visa validation run (not for me yet unfortunately :( ) from June 25 til July 7th so there's a possibility we'd be able to make it. We'll also be staying in South Yarra.

Can anyone give directions? We might be renting a car, but not sure... Oh, and there are 2 of us.. :)

Thanks!

NINE!!!

OMG the 6 is normally bad enough :scared:

Put us down for 4.

Maybe the peeps staying in South Yarra should get together, i don't fancy you making it on public transport.

The village green is best reached getting of on theSpringvale road exit (and yep we even get sign posts here in Aus!!:D) turning left at the top and its down on your left, very big and can't really miss it. If you cross Ferntree Gully Rd you've missed it:D

Re: Melbourne Meet

A few people are asking for directions South Yarra to cnr Springvale and Ferntree Gully Roads. Get onto Toorak Road and follow it out for about 15 kms (it becomes the Burwood Hwy half way after Warrigal Road) to Springvale Road which is one of Melbourne's biggest road junctions. Signposts will say Burwood, Ferntree Gully etc.

Turn right into Springvale Road and Ferntree Gully Road is about 5 kms further on (all roads signposted well before the junction). If you want a small diversion, after turning into Springvale Road you are literally 500 metres from Pin Oak Court (aka Ramsay Street).

We arrive for a brief trip a few hours before so won't be able to make it but maybe another time.

:D Quite right, I was forgetting the Citylink ended at Toorak Rd; Toorak Rd, right onto Monash Fwy, exit at FTG Rd - unless you particularly want to see Ramsay St and go the slow scenic route!

Visit timing was to get away before fare rise on July 1st, Emirates cheapies all gone so got a Malaysia cheapie, arrives early Sat morning. Ladies final that night, Men's final next day!

I hope the meet goes well.

Ok table booked for 20 -30 Saturday 2nd July at 12.30, at Village Green, corner of Sprinvale and Fern Tree Gully Rd, but it wont be a problem if more or less turn up as the place is very big and we can add on tables nearby if needed (or better idea - put kids at their own table :scared: ). My delightful teenage son will not be coming as he is away at camp, so maybe others will come now and not be scared away!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Re: Melbourne Meet

Will people still be there at 4ish? I'm on 4AM to 4PM (usually home about fourish) shift at the airport that day but as I only live two minutes from The Village Green would be good to pop in and put some faces to names and say hi :D

To those not familiar with the area who are coming from the city on the Monash, when you come off the freeway at Ferntree Gully Road exit the slip road joins Ferntree Gully Road which is a three lane highway, you'll need to get over into the right hand lane sharpish as The Village Green is pretty close to that. If you get stuck and can't turn then don't worry, either go right at the lights (not sure if there is a turnoff into the pub there) and right again at next lights by Barloworld Holden which will allow you to come back or just keep going ahead along Ferntree Gully Road till you can get in the right hand lane as there are plenty of places to do a u turn and come back.

If anyone is contemplating public transport just get the Glen Waverley train from Flinders Street Station (tram 57 from 'The British' in Arden Street to the station Bhoywonder) then from Glen Waverley station it's about a five minute cab ride (there are buses that run down Springvale Road but haven't got a clue what number or how often as I've never used them).

If anyone does use public transport then I can always drop you back to Glen Waverley Station later on.

Re: Melbourne Meet

As far as I am aware they stop serving food at 2.30pm and the restaurant closes, I am pretty sure last time I was there they were asking people to leave after that. Unfortunately I dont think we will still be there at 4pm.

Maybe next meet we have we can do something that you will be able to get along to, any suggestions??? Looking forward to meeting you soon.

Mel
