Melbourne - hawthorn - rentals

Melbourne - hawthorn - rentals
Well, finally sorted a job in Melbourne!, been a bit of a ride, was to be Adelaide, then Sydney, now, finally it's to be 13th of November start in east hawthorn
can anyone provide some pointers for rental?, i have no idea where to start really, i've been looking at http://www.domain.com.au and prices go from about $185 a week which seems cheap
there will be only two of us living there, I don't mind commuting if there are better places to live, heeeelp

We are across the motorway (south from you) (down glenferrie/Burke roads)
There should be lots of 2/3 bed apartments from Richmond along through Hawthorn - believe alot come out on the market in Sept/Oct. Renting should also be easy to find - but will be on a week to week basis so no use fretting until you arrive.
