I think you'll find that a lot of these large cars are certainly used to their full capacity - we certainly use our Pathfinder for transporting loads of kids round, taking all our gear camping and towing the boat - hard to do all these activities with a Hyundai Getz!

I notice that some manufacturers are removing the 4WD box from their entry-level 4WDs for such usage which is a good idea - loads of families need the space but not the off-road capability.

Lots of people certainly use their 4x4 to go camping. People forget that you only need to visit a country property and realise 4x4 might have got you out of a boggy park!!!

More like 10 years?
At our school most people use a mid-size Suv.
Only my wife drives a Ford Falcon lol.

V8s are non existent, big 4x4s in serious decline...often a work or older 2nd vehicle.

The nearest thing to a 'boggy park' a lot of the 4x4s around here have been on is the motorway into Brisbane

Occasionally it hits 20C in July....

No complaints about the weather at the moment apart from my garden needs more than 1 hours rain every 3 months!

Been looking at Mordialloc, mainly because the school there looks really good for my 6 year old, also Mentone, Parkdale, Aspendale.

Any thoughts??

We are currently living in Kajang in Malaysia and there is a drought here at the moment, its hitting 38C daily and 28C in the evening, the humidity levels are 97%, forest fires caused from the heat is causing dangerous levels of air pollution!

Well I live right on the border of Mordialloc and Parkdale, and the primary school at Mordialloc is actually considered to be not very good when compared to Parkdale and Parktone schools (both in Parkdale).

This area is a fantastic area to live in for families though, we've lived here 7 years.

Oh really? I was just going from what the statistics say on the computer!! We are viewing some houses in all of those areas so thats great news! I just want to move somewhere that has a lovely community feel to it. Where we live now everyone keeps themselves to themselves. We are the only British family living on a new housing estate and the rest are Chinese.

Shall i just wait until i get there and look at the schools when i'm there, or do i need to contact them now to secure a place, is it hard to get your kids into school?
