I still feel that those who start off with the notion that everyone in their new country only wants a superficial level of friendship will probably only find a superficial level of friendship.

You are suggesting by implication that British (or Kiwi or whatever) expats are only going to find deep and meaningful relationships with fellow British or Kiwi or whatever expats because they won't be able to form them with 'locals' which I consider to be pure drivel if you don't mind me saying.

BTW don't include me in 'they' because the cap doesn't fit with me at least. Don't also conclude that your experiences or anecdotal evidence from some can be extended to all.

OzTennis :)

the longer I live here, the more interesting people I meet. Time and time again. I do find alot of Aussies can be almost too laid back for their own good; I've become the same, (I'm less stressed) but show a bit of interest and people will reciprocate.

Try moving suburbs Kiwichild.

What pray makes your experience more valid than mine? I am not one to make friends easily, yet I find that Australians go out of their way to make settling in and finding friends easy.

Or putting it another way: if a contact-shy geek like me can do it, then anybody should be able to.

Of course that's subjective. But no more or less factual than your statements.

Mike,

You only have to look back over her post history to see why she finds it hard to make friends..... :D

Oh, and I found this link I thought you might be interested in, even though you have already done your plans etc. You never know in the future it might come in handy.

Oh my....

I wonder if I should show this to my wife. I think she'll cry! :o

Here we are thinking we're goodle-educated but we never saw this link. Of course they're not one of the "approved" builders in Springthorpe, but still we would have given them a close look.

Thanks so much for that link! It will be stored for when we want to go through this drama again! ;)

Thought you might like it :D

We have just bought some land, but instead of doing the whole Project Builder thing, we are going to Owner/Build. That way we get EXACTLY what we want!!
