sorry good luck! also look at north of the city, i think its nicer there than the south east suburbs , house prices also more reasonable, and near the city, e.g, Watsonia, where i wish i had bought a year ok, easily get summit within your budget and only about 12k from the city, schools also have a good reputation! Take your time looking though, so you dont end up in a suburb thats not suited to you! |

There is also Point Cook in the western suburbs, and various other developments in that area. 25 minute drive to city (longer in rush hour), Werribee train line (busy in rush hour) but you will be in the city in about 30 minutes from Laverton. Point Cook has a nice town centre and lots of new schools, it is a 10 minute drive from Werribee South beach, 15 minutes from Altona beach and 20 minutes from Williamstown. Werribee Plaza is 10 minutes down the road, it is a decent size and is soon to be upgraded. Its worth having a look at.

Hoppers Crossing looks okay..certainly reasonably priced, but driving around, the countryside seems quite flat.... you might also want to look up William's Landing, which is a bit nearer the city, a new development with train connection into the CD :)

It has always been the cheapest area within 20kms of CBD and on public transport, and attracts people who want this on a tight budget. It has lots of community activities- I think because of the less well heeled clientele. Laverton is right on freeway, so our house is constantly under a layer of dust! However in last year or so prices have gone up, mainly due to Williams Landing being under development (next burb). I would not rush to chose to live here, but for convenience and cost (350kish) it is OK. Schools are awful though. Williams Landing, Tarneit, Truganina are all being developed and will have their own train line...seems an OK option? |

Looking at 3 bedroom house that doesn't require too much work/modernisation, i.e. can move straight in.
Not too fussed about land, just want an outdoor eating/patio area and enough space for a trampoline. Though prefer to stay away from townhouse and the strata School is important, so a decent public school not too far away. Would be nice to have parks/ovals/guides or the like not too far away for 7yr old daughter. Got a car so shops at least 10-15mins drive away. Near transport links to the city as want to stay a one car family and get train to work. Would be nice to be less than an hours drive away from beach. We currently live in Waitara in Sydney which would be ideal if we could afford it!:D Westfield/train/school in 10 mins walk and 40 mins from city & beach. |
