Question Melb or Brissie?????

Wonder if anyone out there can help us!!!!!

Andy's trade is Graphic Prepress Tradesperson .......... At present he works for Royal Doulton UK....... using Mac computers (or free hand) he designs camera ready artwork which goes onto ware...... but in Oz he want to move back into advertising/direct print.

We have noticed that Brissie has this trade on shortage...... but Melb seems to advertise more jobs in this field.

Does anyone know much about job vacancies in Design/Advertising?

or

Any suggestions which State to opt for......?

Hope you can help us........

I believe there are more media jobs in Melbourne than Brisbane. A big difference is the weather with Melbourne having something approaching seasons and a winter cold enough to need coats and jumpers. If you cannot tolerate a long hot humid summer then Brisbane might be hell for you.

Both cities are a good drive from the Ocean.

Brisbane is expanding rapidly which should provide growing opportunities for those that can grab them. Melbourne is more established and likes to think of itself as a classy city whilst QLD is rougher around the edges.

I think it might come down to a lifestyle choice.

My guess would have been Melbourne would be the one for this type of job. But Brisbane is changing so rapidly in that it may well be in demand.

Melb wins on weather in summer, because it can get 35 or 40 but its more of a spasmodic odd event not usually weeks on end. Qld is more likely to be low to mid 30's but the humidity does not help.

Qld wins on weather in winter, its low 20's, dry and sunny while Melbourne is cold damp drizzly wet and windy.

Housing in Melbourne is way dearer than QLD. I love Melbourne, but unless you are moving out into the countryside I doubt that its really going to be that much different from the UK. Depends if the family are looking for the beachy pool type thing then QLD is the one.

2 very different parts of OZ thats all.
