Smile Medicals in pregnancy?

Just a quick query as usual there is loads of conflicting information on here...we have been asked for medicals and police checks - horray! Although my partner is pregnant also horray! some people say we should delay all our medicals until after the birth due to the xray? and some people say Xrays do not harm the unborn child? The new baby is due on 21st April...so she is fairly well on

Many thanks for any advice you can offer

My friend was adviced to wait. Let your case officer know and they will tell you what is best to do.

Hope this helps, congratulations and best of luck

I think most doctors wont let you have the Xrays if you are pregnant, should check with your CO and also speak to medical centre where you are going for meds to get thier advice too.

Good luck and many congratulations

Pipers Mummy is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Medicals in pregnancy?

I was already in Melbourne with my husband on a 457 visa. We were keen to obtain our PR visa and I was approx. 25 weeks pregnant when the medicals needed to be done. I had my medical done at DIMIA and they were more than happy to carry out the xray. I wore a lead apron over my bump but they assured me that research suggested airport xray machines had the potential to be more harmful to the baby than a chest xray. They will not carry out an xray in the first trimester.

I think because I was pregnant I had to have an additional blood test too......can't remember exactly what that was for, (might have been hep A or B - not sure) but they just used the blood they had to take anyway and added it to our bill !
