Default Medicals and a medical condition (baby) - anyone?

Just wondered if anyone has experience of a child having a medical condition and what happens at the medicals. Do you have to go for further tests? Does it delay the process?

Husband and I have both had our meds but we now have to apply for visas for our children. The baby (17 weeks old) has been in a harness for an under-developed hip socket. She has been given the all-clear now and is out of the harness and requires no further treatment, but the hospital want to see her regularly for x-rays until she is 5 years old, to ensure the socket continues to develop correctly. The specialist said there is little chance of regression, so seeing her every year is just precautionary. How would this be dealt with on the medicals?

I'm afraid I can't speak for the baby. But I had cancer 13 years ago and apparently if it is OK - as you're consultant seems to be saying, then you just need a report from the physician stating the diagnosis, treatment and the prognosis and send this off with the medicals.

That's what I had to do with my cancer so you would probably require the same report. If they think there is no further treatment then they are probably right. Just get the report to say so. After all, you never really know if it is going to be OK until you try.

Good luck with it all, I doubt there will be any problems.

Thank you. I think I will get something in writing ahead of the medicals, to reduce any delays.

A health waiver is available on child visas, but you would need professional advice on this (it's not automatic). Better to ask on the immigration forum.

This is a strong reason for PRs to have children born in Australia instead.

What do you mean by health waiver?

The health requirements may be less strict.
