its pretty thorough ,all the usual and a few more checks. For us a family of 4 it took almost 3 hours. They take blood,do chest xrays, ask numerous health related questions,i also had a nice breast examination.I know all drs arent as thorough but ours wanted a letter from our GP outlining, diagnosis ,investigation treatment and prognosis for any investigative hospital visits we had had. This he said was to pre-empt Adelaide asking for further clarication at a later date.
Hope this helps
good luck

If you have kids you need to take immunisation records.
Also if there is a female in the party (?!) you need your last cervical smear result. Our family of 4 were done and dusted in less than 2 hours.

I did not have to provide my cervical smear test results or have my breasts examined and we got the visa no probs!

That was the York doctor

Medicals vary by vast amounts between the different panel doctors, so be prepared for anything from a quick chat with all your family in the room at once, to the full Monty drop your pants and cough. Post where your going for them for a good idea of what to expect.

PS 25 units a week is close to failing I think someone posted 30+ and it's a fail!!! do a search on medicals on the forum loads of info.

Used the Brighton doctor - he never went anywhere near my breasts, no mention of cervical smear tests, small fib about the amount of alcohol, went through the questions on the form, in and out in 25 minutes, and that included 10 minutes discussing the existence of this forum! Back 4 days later for blood test results.
It really does seem to vary from doctor to doctor.

Jamesey,

If you are going to the one at Crawley make sure you tell hime you drink less than 25 units a week. He does medicals for pilots and to him 25+ units is a chronic alchoholic and unfit (rightly, probably) to fly a plane. But he extends that to migrating to Australia (wrongly).

Obviously I'm not saying lie to the man, just make sure you've had less than 25 units the week before and you won't be ....

Thanks for all your replies! Just looking at the forms, can't believe they want to know the dates for EVERY time you've ever been in hospital! Can any of you let me know how much detail you went into?? Do I need a trip to the docs to look at me dusty old records and the dates in so much detail??

Dan - of course hardly ever touch the wine, just a drop of sherry at Xmas!!! We are going to the docs in Horley, hope they are kind.
