Default Medical Insurance

Hi, any information on medical insurance would be useful. We are coming over on a 457 visa and have been advised that we will need to purchase insurance, how much will this cost us for a family of four with good cover??
Thanks again!!

Depends if you want to keep it up. To get your visa you need the insurance, but once in Oz if you can register for Reiciprocal Medicare then you can cancel your private cover if you so wish. You need to read up on private cover to see what it provides to decide if you want to keep it or not. You can get family cover basic for 200 a month give or take. Look at Bupa and Medibank to read what it's about. Also read up about what cover you get from Medicare. As to be honest it doesn't cover a lot. Getting sick or seriously ill in Oz can get expensive!

We have already arrived in tasmania on Friday. Just enrolled into Medicare and are looking for some extra insurance. Given advice of medibank, bupa, ract and st.lukes as possibilities. We are still unsure and would also like some help but don't know who to ask as most have between 2 and 1 year waiting periods. Any help would be appreciated
