Default Medical discharge from UK army. To aus?

Hello everyone. Long time lerker.

<snip personal info>

I have 4 years electrician experience and the qualifications. I am looking to lodge an EOI. Because I will be medically discharged I'm worried this will affect my chances and looking at using an agent.
Haskew law cost about 1.8k and I would like to know whether it's worth it?
I have just enough savings for an agent and visa.
I am genuinely fit as a standard 29 year old just not military fit.

Any information would help me out.

The back injury shouldn't be a visa stopper unless there is an underlying condition causing it.

I am a fan of using agents, though I haven't heard of the one you are considering. Just make sure they are MARA registered. That means the agent himself not just that they have access to a MARA agent.

I would be concerned on your financial plans. Migrating is incredibly expensive. For electricians particularly so as it is a licensed occupation in Oz. So, you are going to need enough funds for living - bills, rent, car, food for a number of months until you find work. Then, you will not be regarded as an electrician as you need to get a license which will mean working as a trade assistant - a bit like an apprentice and undertaking college courses which are expensive.

Do not lodge an eoi until you have a positive skills assessment and if claiming points for English, you also need to take a test such as ILETS before the Eoi

I am due to be medically discharged due to a back injury
Welcome to the club.
Go here and read the relevant guide and fact sheet:

Trade Migration Skills Assessment Guides and Fact Sheets - VETASSESS

From what you have posted, you might be pushing the proverbial uphill.

If you decide to proceed, run your case past a registered migration agent.

Thanks for the information.

I will be saving for at least another 12 months from now - so hopefully going with around 10k.

I understand the process of being on a limited license for a year to be registered to work in that state, but wasn't aware of courses to be completed?

I feel using an agent will help.

What do you think about when i visit my friends over there in November, is it worth me trying to talk to some employers to see if they're willing to sponsor me out right? Or is that the 457 which is gone.

Ten k isn't going to last long!

Also, your four years as an electrician does that include the time training? If it does, then you are not going to be able to pass the skills assessment, also, what qualification do you have? An NVQ2 for example will not be sufficient

Thanks for your reply.
I would be extremely proactive in regards to looking and applying for work way ahead of time. I completely understanding the pressure of being out of work and it's not something I take lightly.

I had 1 year training yeah then 3 years exp. I was told this is fine as they want 3 to 4 years exp on the eoi system .

I have city and guilds level 3 inspection and testing periodic and initial verification.

Foundation degree in management.

What are your thoughts in regards to my reply. You think I'm not approaching this the right way?

I would run it past a migration agent. Westy who has replied above is a respected one and will tell you if your qualification is sufficient.

Just FYI, the migration agents most often recommended on BE are Alan Collett, TMI and George Lombard. All can be found by searching the member's list. Best of luck.
