Default Medical Costs

Telephoned around a few places today to ask about the cost of medicals for our student visas.

Our nearest surgery is in Perth and they want £210.00 per adult and £100 for our little boy plus £15 postage. The hospital want £72 per person for x-rays. I nearly fell off my seat! It is very expensive.

So I decided to shop around and telephoned a couple of Edinburgh places who all in are around £200 cheaper but we need to travel a little further.

No point really to my post other than letting you know so you too can shop around. The closest to you isn't always the cheapest.

I am interested in the outcome of your price search. I am in Dunfermline and will be looking to sort out medicals as soon as State Sponsorship comes through

Well Edinburgh (Morningside) want £130 per adult and £60 per child. Bonnyrigg want £110.00 per adult and £60 for the baby although they say an extra £20 for me as I have a tattoo. Extra blood is require for a hepatitis check.

Spire at Murrayfield want £84 per person for x-rays.

Perth want £210 pp for the medicals and £100 for the baby.

We're in Kingseat (hence the user name) so Perth is closer for us than all the way through or round Edinburgh.

How is your application going?

For some reason I thought they would all be pretty much the same cost.

Thanks Pam and Kingseat. We are just waiting on State Sponsorship from WA. 10 weeks and counting . Just trying to put it out our heads as it is like waiting for the kettle to boil whilst watching it. Our 175 is in the big black hole the Diac have created, so trying to go down the route to limit the waiting time. What stage are you at?

Good luck with that. We too are heading to WA. Perth as we have family there. We've got to go down the student route. Highly risky but the only way we can do it so we're going to take the gamble.
