Maps etc Cairns?
O.K. Well OH has a job offer & sponsorship on a 457 so the next thing is to look at what areas to look for accomodation. I assume that there is an Australian equivalent to the Ordnance Survey for maps but I cant find any obvious on line link Can anybody help on this one? also any informative sites re the Cairns & suurounding district suburbs. We have found a few but any links/personal knowledge gratefully recieved

www.whereis.com will give you maps.

Hema maps seem to be pretty good... We've used them to trek up and down the east coast, including Cairns, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation, etc. There's bundles of info on Cairns on the 'net and BE. Try setting your default search in google to google.com.au and you'll get better results.

Have just 'found' google earth brilliant for checking out areas etc from a birds eye view

The UBD maps are pretty good, as well as the HEMA ones. If you need any hwlp regarding areas and suburbs, some of the real estate sites have profiles and demographics on the suburbs - haven't checked recently but

used to have a decent demographic section.
