Hi, Deb

We were originally looking at Perth, but the visa we need applies only to 'the regions', so we are now looking at the Mandurah area.

Unfortunately, when we did our recce to Perth this year we completely ignored this area,so know very little about it.

Where and when do you go ? Do you have jobs to go to ? Renting a house initially ?

Anything at all that you can tell me about the area would be most welcome.

John.

funny enough we were recommended this area tonight by a friend in perth.how far from perth is it.

whats the area like?does anyone know any more about it? it seems ideal for us ,by the river and sea.

thanks ,

Hi John I take it that you are on the SIR - same as us. We went to look at Mandurah last August when we were in Perth for a holiday and funnily enough our friend have a rental property down there and told us how lovely it was. As it was on the list of regions we took a day out and spent some time down there before we drove down to Bunbury for a look.
Mandurah was lovely despite the rotten rain and high winds - I think we saw it at its worse . We had a quick drive around and had a lovely lunch at Cicerellos.

We leave in two weeks, my OH is trying to set up his own company as he can't work in Perth - but can set up an office/business address in Mandurah and contract in Perth!!! We are going to rent for at least 1-2 years to see how things go. I had a few websites for Mandurah but as I'm on the laptop (the pc is on its way to Fremantle) I can't put my hand to them at the moment, but if you do a search on this site they are listed somewhere - if I get time I'll try and find them for you this evening.

Any other questions just pm me

Debbie

Hi there

We were in Mandurah in April validating (b 4 heading down to Bunbury, & Dunsborough), we have been seriously considering moving here for ages, when we eventually sell up. It is a lovely place, we stayed in Halls Head (which is quite expensive so I believe?) & had a look around Pinjarra & Silver Sands etc. We stayed quite near the marina (way out of our price range!) but it was beautiful with some very expensive pads!

Sorry not sure what the job situation is like there (were told by the locals that trades people are very much in demand).

Very near the sea & rivers etc, we loved staying in Mandurah (still feel that there are sooo many other nice places to check out though when we arrive !). We didnt go further than Hillarys which we regret!

Sorry can't be more helpful,

Jo

i'd rather buy, but the OH wants to rent!
so we're going to rent for a while and see how it goes, i've not been too impressed by some of the rental details i've seen, but I suppose it's better to view and make your mind up in person rather than by pictures

i suppose the wife is right on this one,you know what its like, after you have bought something ,you always see something better and cheaper somewhere else.

all comes to he or she who waits,we will just have to hope the house prices have peaked ,you never know i may build my own.
