Default Manchester to Perth, help please

Hi guys,
this is my first thread so bear with me, me and my girlfriend are thinking of moving to Perth (she holds dual nationality for Oz and the UK, I have New Zealand and the UK), visas will not be a problem but I'm trying to figure out what the crack is with getting on the mines.
I've been working as a gas safe engineer in the UK for the past 2 years, prior to this I was in golf course construction, operating plant machinery (but the company where never bothered about CPCS tickets so I never took any official tests). Could anyone point me in the right direction of how to get my foot in the door?? From the research I've done myself it seems very few people will look at you via email and you have a better chance on the ground out there.
We are thinking of heading over in January, would anyone have any good contacts to offer, any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers everyone

Hi There,

I work in the Iron ore industry, the secret is tickets, tickets and more tickets and they must be relevent to WA. There is a lot of work around Port Hedland and Karratha as well as the mine sites that are remote, it is a good time to be here. I work in rail and everybody and his dog want to upgrade their rail track or lay new rail. Take a look at John Holland, Laing O`Rourke, NRW or O`Donnell Griffin, they are all employing at the moment. Good luck

Hi

I applied for a position with Rio Tinto 3 weeks ago on their website careers section, 1 week later after having 2 telephone interviews and a set of online examinations they flew both me and the wife over for a week...offered the position right there and then....they are having a huge planned capacity expansion over the next 5 years and are recruiting heavily for (get this) 5-10000 new employees!!!
Take a look at their site and register your details I'm sure your skills we be sought after in one of their departments.

Oh and I'm over in Perth 1st week in Jan so you're more than welcome to look me up.

New-life would you mind me asking what kind of position you applied for, they all appear quite specialist on the Rio Tinto website? Would you have any idea what they would describe an entry level role as?
