Emirates used to have an offer +10 kilos to the regular 20 in economy, when traveling on unvalidated PR only, once it was validated you could not use it even if you missed it the first time out. I think I recall Singapore offering something similar. Extra weight would still be paid at regular excess rate.

I think it would attract more responses if you say what airlines are you considering to use or where you are flying from

lol We are flying with ba and quantas (ducks for cover) and unless you buy extra the allowance is 23kilo per person it sucks but we sent what we could in shipping and hand luggage is crammed and luckily we have 2 kids so its not too bad and we have kind friends who will ship stuff out after that we have since found that should have gone in shipping (glares at hubby )

Singapore Air give 40kg per person baggage allowance if you are travelling on an unvalidated PR visa.

Emirates offers every economy passenger 30kg, regardless of whether they're emigrating.

yes Emirates is one of the better ones, we use them fly business class silver members and we get 54kg each plus two hand luggage bags.
