Default longest visa application

" After 3 months, 1 week and 5 days (136 Welder) we had our visas granted!!!!

I'm shaking and won't be able to sleep tonight "

I was reading this thread today about a lucky couple who have had a really quick visa acceptance, but does anybody know of anybody that has had to be patient and persevere for years ??

Just curious really.

Thanks Irishbloo, Unfortunatley I am not the lucky one.

This was posted earlier by a real lucky couple.

This was my question.

Actually the system only changed last year. If you applied in 2004 then you were on average waiting well over a year. Which is exactly what we did. In fact it took 18 months from skills assessment stage to getting the visa the passport.

Makes me laugh when people complain and whine about the processing times since the system was changed.

Yeah, it took us about 20 months from final application to getting the visa. Plus about 6 months on top of that for skills assesments beforehand!

me too - the visa application took 2 yrs 2mths 2 days (partly because it was put on hold due to pregnancy). Altogether from skills assessment sent off to us landing in Oz (which has yet to happen) it will be 3yrs 2mths.

Going back to when we started the process many people had a 2yr wait when their applications were transferred from UK to Oz (changed location of processing) and for some strange reason they processed applications sent direct to Oz long before those applied & sent to UK then transferred.

there are still some visa applications at the moment which do take this length of time, it isnt just for the 2004 applicants.

We decided to make the move in August 2003.
1st agent contacted sept 2003. ( nothing happened with them ).
2nd agent contacted april 2004. Due to me being a Gypsy at work and have had like a million employers the T.R.A didnt go in till 23/2/05.
T.R.A returned positive 29/5/05.
Due to college year, main application went in on 28/11/05.
still waiting. and waiting and waiting......

We would like to be in Sydney some time this year..

all the best
