Hi guys,
Well we have arrived in sydney and are now trying to find somewhere to rent and so far the pickings are very slim.
The last place we looked at was a dive and they wanted $450 a week (holes in wall, water damage, broken windows, manky carpets...the list goes on)
We would ideally like somewhere around puttney as its nice and green for the dog and its fairly easy to get to the CBD
Anyone have any ideas of other areas, we would like a house and would like to spend no more that $500 a week.
I know I am asking a lot
Any help would be great

It's not fun trying to find rentals in Sydney, you are in a very competitive price band.
Maybe look at Ryde, it is 5-10 minutes further out from Putney. It is further from the water and not as nice at Putney, but there is a greater supply of rentals, so your chances will be greater. Providing you have a car it is not a bad place to live, I drive to Huntley Point ferry wharf and take the rivercat to the city, total travel time about 45 minutes.
Good luck,
J

It's about 35km from the city, but, Berowra Heights may have something in your price range that's not a dive - if price is the most important factor. F3 and Pacific Highway drive to City best time 40 about mins, fast train about the same.
Berowra Heights Rental
Recommend Paul Jones Real Estate btw.

I looked at a block of flats in Everton Park, Brisbane the other week. $260/week, and to tell the truth, I would allow my worst enemy's dead dog to live there. You could see Termite damage from the street.
