I think it is possible to use them to detonate a bomb remotely so it is probably part of emergency planning to take the networks down.

For those without Foxtel, ABC TV has continuous feed from CNN.

Mobile phone service speculated to be suspended in case bombs activated by moblie phone call.

It's not suspended - I'm in the City and I have a signal (on and off). It's intermittent because it's obviously overloaded and so they give priority to the emergency services and service for normal users becomes unreliable.

They are now showing the BBC Worldwide on ABC.

Hope everyone's friends and families are OK. I cannot get hold of anyone's mobiles in London but that is hardly suprising.

Yes. They've turned off some of the networks since mobile phone signals are often used to set off bombs. So don't panic.

Mate in Worthing says that Brighton and Swindon were evacuated when suspect packages found. Now talking of closing all stations for security sweep. He can hear sirens all around him in central Worthing

:scared: Sleepy old Worthing!! My home town. Will cause chaos it's Thursday - pension day :scared:

Let's hope there's no more bombs anywhere else.
