DH is a warehouse manager, and we are keen to know what the job market is like.Any comments much appreciated.

Here's a couple of specialist logistics recruitment sites.....
http://www.tuckwell.com.au/welcome.php
http://www.impexpersonnel.com.au/
as well as the usual candidates.....
http://www.jobs.careerone.com.au/js.php
http://www.seek.com.au/jobsearch/
Usually a good amount of warehouse jobs going.

Re: Logistics/Warehousing job opportunities
Well, I work in Comms, but I had to go to a fault at a warehouse in the Logan area about a month ago, and while I was there, they had these gizzas come in and speak to these new warehouseman about a type of APPENTICESHIP Sorry but an appentice warehouseman ?
Aussie's do seem to like it's bit of paper regarding work, and experience in another country don't easily count for much
Not trying to put the mockers on it, just like it is, and Queensland seems to be up at the top of the pile for it.
As for Warehouse work, stacks mate. You will get work as soon as you want it, just be prepared to jump through a few hoops. Worth it though....
Good luck

Re: Logistics/Warehousing job opportunities
Big buzz word down-under is LOGISTICS............ don't know if it's the same back in UK?
Later on after working off-shore for a few years i did a 12 month course at Edith Cowan University............. and i joined the Institute. Could pick and choose jobs from then on.
Up the mines i found that LOGISTICS type personnel were better thought of than tradesmen from a management point of view. It was the storemen who copped all the perks and rose rapidly up the ladder which made a bit of a mockery re us serving a 5 year apprenticeship.
Heaps of work for LOGISTICS people so you won't have too much drama at all.
