Default Limited Company - Can you help, Alan?

Alan,

I see you have lots of expertise and might give me some information.

I am considering setting up a Limited Company to trade as a training Consultant / Interim Manager here in the UK. I am intending to move to Australia within 12 months, and do not want to duplicate the process.

Is there anything I should consider when I set up/buy the UK Ltd Company in readiness to use the same trading name etc in Australia. Or are they two completely different procedures.

I know that is probably a very big question, but don't really know where to start.

Cheers
Mash... (Nicki)

You can work in Australia with your UK limited company for 6 months before
you become liable to Australian taxes, after which point you are as well
scrapping your UK company or you will be paying taxes in both countries.
Speak to an accountant before doing anything.

Simon,

On what basis do you make this comment? If you move to Australia as a
permanent resident, or as the holder of a long term temporary visa you are
liable to tax in Australia from the date that you arrive.

Nicki, mail me directly if you want to discuss more fully and/or want me to
telephone you.

Best regards.
