Default Light fittings

Could anybody who has already got there please advise us whether or not UK light-fittings are any use in Oz? We've got numerous ceiling and wall lights, which cost us quite a bit of money and we'd really like to take them with us.
Thanks

I defy anyone to get an Ikea light fitting to work either in the UK or in Oz

Voltage Clarification

Nominal mains voltage is 240 volts. This can be expected to vary between 216 and 254 volts depending on time and load conditions in the distribution system

Frequency is 50 Hertz
