does anybody know what licenses i need to work as a mechanical fitter in oz
i keep hearing about blue cards etc but can find nothing out about them

It depends where you are going as all states have different rules etc. Maybe tell us which state and then someone will be able to help more

you dont need a licence as a mechanical fitter. The blue card is a health and safety certificate for working on construction sites.

No licence needed (as previous poster said ) It's generally Electrical Fitters that need licencing, so as long as you aren't doing anything electrical you'll be fine.

A blue card is like a health & safety at work certificate, you can apply for your blue card before you go to oz, not sure if you have to have an address there though, but i've been told that it is straight forward enough though, you can even do it on line. It is a series of questions for you to answer and apparently if you get any wrong you get another go or something like that anyway. Have saved the website that you will need, so i will look for it in a mo and send it to you. Hope this helped. Licenses are a different matter, i do know that most skilled trades men have to have a licence to carry out their work to meet Australian standards.

Blue Dog Training is a company that you can apply for a blue card through, dont have the exact web address, but if you google Blue Dog Training then i'm sure you'll find it.
