Default Leaving Party Over- Panic setting in

Hi this is Noeleen Andrew63 better half.

Has anyone experienced the panic that sets in when you have had your leaving party and realise you are really going in 10 days......

The party was brilliant with 200 friends and family (seemed like a million kids) and everyone had a great time. Now we realise what we are leaving. It was only when Granny and Grandad left for England last night that it hit me. The guilt about taking our kids so far away.

I am now deciding what to pack for the journey etc. 3 days in Singapore- will casual clothes do or do we need to bring something better for the evenings (any ideas). I am getting nowhere fast, and the car still has not sold!!!!!!!!!

Any organised people out there with tips on packing?

Gotta go.......nervous breakdown on the way.

Hi Noeleen,

Don't panic, you'll love the whole trip from start to finish !

As for Singapore, we only wore shorts and t-shirts for the 4 days we stayed last month due to the heat and all the walking around.

This place is totally different to Ireland and in my opinion much better for the whole family. On Sunday we drove down the 4-lane Pacific Motorway to the Gold Coast, it was sunny and about 28 degrees. We visited my cousin and sat down for several cold beers and a great BBQ on his outdoor entertaining area - I couldn't imagine us doing that in Cork !

Drop us a line when you get here, or when you need a good hairdresser !

Michele.

Hi Noeleene,
Hope you have a lovely flight, Singapore is such a lovely place to stop over and as long as you pick light weight clothing you should do just fine, it is very humid even at night, but one of the safest places to go and the singaporians are very nice people. Well the ones we spoke to were.
How long has it taken you to get to this point ?
We are still patiently waiting as is a load of others.

Hi Noeleen
I know just how you feel I am running round like a headless chicken at the mo panicking my head off
I cannot even describe how I feel at the moment as it is really weird.

Good luck - you will be fine once you get on the plane.

Hi Michele

Thanks a million, I know I will like it, but even though I knew we had a lot of friends I actually did not think I would feel a bit wobbly abut leaving. I am quite sure I will be fine when we get moving. There is so much to do etc.

Thanks for the advice about Singapore.

Noeleen

PS We will contact you when we get there, any luck with a house yet?

Hi Elaine,

It has taken about 18 months in all, but we did have a long legal propblem to deal with. So I would imagine that without that we would have been gone in 6 months.

Unfortunately our house sold too quickly and we have been renting for the last year, which has been unsettling for the kids.

We are really looking forward to the move, I guess you do not realize how many people you are upsetting until the last minute. We are still glad to be doing this though.

How far have you got, do you have visas etc?

Hi Debs

I am worse than a headless chicken! as I have 3 headless chicken kids off school so they are helping to 'un pack' !

I know once we go that we will be ok and everyone will get back to normal.

Thanks again, I feel quite normal now and not 'the only one' if you know what I mean.

Hi Noeleene,
Application lodged 17th April 04 We have just had our medicals done and police checks but they have as yet not been asked for. We did this because we are about to go off on holiday to tennerife with total of 19 friends and kids and did not want them asking while we are away, plus it could only hold up matters more. We are going out on a designated area 139 sponsored visa hopefully . So hears hoping we get some good news soon as I just had a dreadful experience last night when my Moggy was killed by a car
I will not have to worry about quarantine now...but miss her bad.

Hi Noeleen,

Can imagine how you are feeling, we are right behind you have packers in tommorrow! Just booked hall for the kids and our party on the 9 Oct and leave 10 days after. I am dreading all the goodbyes, especially saying good bye to my mum!

I am sure once you are on that plane you will sigh a sigh of relief, I know I will and look forward to new beginnings and challenges.

Good luck!

Cheers

Hi Linzie

Good luck tomorrow, I have calmed a little and even managed to pack a suitcase!. Our party was great, but seeing everyone say goodbye to the kids was hard, our 7 year old and 3 year old, was hugging everyone and I could see they were wishing were not taking them away, but hey the world is a smaller place these days and with technololgy we will not be that far away...

Am I convincing you...... No really it will be fab once we get going.

I completely understand how you feel as I get like this even when I am going on holiday. To emigrate and know that it's the real McCoy must be very unnerving.

I wish you all the very best and hope you have a great time in Singapore and a wonderful new life Down Under!

Take care.

Noeleen,

Did you try "Buy and Sell" paper ? it's free and good responses. Get the number from www.buyandsell.ie There are 2 different papers, one for Munster the other for Nationwide, especially Dublin.
