Sobered up yet mate? How did the leaving do go? I have ben away for a few days saying goodbye to MIL so I may have missed it in another post.

thanks for asking about our leaving party, really nice to know that so many people care x
the party was lovely, i did have a few tears, Becci (my daughter who is not coming to Oz) made a speech which was very brave of her and really sweet of her x
Boomie and her hubby Boomer made the effort to come all the way from their mums to our home, really enjoyed having you for the weekend both of you, hope that our friendship will last forever xx
Friends who left for Australia last September said at their leaving party that at times like this you soon find out who your true friends are, that is so true, i will never forget the friends and family who did make the effort to make our party special.

I didn't drink much to be honest, too busy mingling with people, chatting about our move etc. I'll have to make amends with the Brisbane Girls Club later in the year!

My m-i-l had a lovely cake made, so i will try and post a photo of it and my
sister in law got us a Guest Book which everyone signed, we also had it videoed so we can keep it to look back on when our memories start to fade!

Thanks again for asking 'friends', to anyone toying with the idea of having a party, i'd say 'go for it', but don't have it too close to the date you leave, that way its not too upsetting.

Hi Rach,

really glad that everything went well.

We're still waiting on the TRA so it's a little early to think too much about a leaving do but you can't help but allow your mind to wonder a bit, can you? A couple of friends of ours went to Aus on a 12 month working visa and had a leaving party a couple of days before they went. There was cake, tears, speeches, tears, visitor's book, tears, a camcorder going around so that everyone could record their best wishes, oh and some tears! They only went for a year :scared:

Glad your leaving party went well, it's bound to be emotional, but at least it's done now.
I think a guest book is a great idea and I'll get one for my leaving party which should be in about 7 weeks time. I'll probably get a video done too.
We're Brisbane bound as well, so I'll probably catch up with you when we get there. I'm looking forward to a night out in Brissie with the Brisbane Girls Drinking Club too!!!

Not long now before you go!!!! :scared: - As for us I think I would prefer to have a barbie in Brisbane to celebrate our arrival ....... far less emotion to cope with :D

yep, it was brilliant that Becci made a speech, she was very red and more than a little bit tipsy but it made my night, she even had a slow dance with Mark!!!!!!
Three weeks tomorrow till we fly out to our new lives, can't wait although it has now started to sink in!

Hi Rach,
We're heading for Bracken Ridge, which is only 10 mins away from Albany CreeK, so we'll have to arrnage to meet up when we get there.
We're renting first, so you'll have to let me know what Albany Creek is like as an area to buy in.
Lovely cake by the way, was it as tasty as it looks?
When are you heading over to Albany Creek, we're hoping to be in Bracken Ridge by about 7-8 weeks, depending on house sale though it could be a bit longer. Hope not though, we can't wait to get there!!
How come you haven't changed your name to 'alltheluck' yet???

thanks for the message and comment about the cake, yep it is very tasty but very fattening too, what do they say 'naughty but nice'!
we fly out three weeks tomorrow, stopping in Singapore for 2 nights, then land in Brisbane on 11th at 6.30am!!!
Will be staying in Albany Creek with friends to begin with but will definately stay there, have seen a house already albeit on the internet!
Won't change my name yet, want to sell my car and exchange first, its not over till the fat lady sings and i'm only humming at the mo!

Glad the cake was as nice as it looks!!!
Just had a look at the piccy of your baby (car), very nice too, I bet you'll be sad to leave it behind!!!
Hope your move goes well, we're considering a stopover in Singapore too, so let me know if it's worth it??
Can't wait to hear that everything is sorted out for you (house exchange, car sale) and you can finally change your name, it will be worth it all after the long wait!!!
