Default Learners driving licence in Queensland - help please?

My son is 18 years old and has held a UK provisional driving licence for about a year. Does anybody know if this counts towards his Oz licence or does he still have to hold an oz learners licence for 6 months before he can take his test and get his provisional?

Any comments appreciated.

Go to your local police station and ask to speak to the senior traffic Sgt. If he cannot answer you directly it's his duty make enquiries to the Qld police legal dept. They take a few days to get back with a response and you can either phone or call back for the answer.
When we arrived I wanted to teach our daughter to drive We were told I needed to have held a Qld licence for a number of years, this proved to be untrue when we asked at the local police station. The senior Sgt even sent us a fax to keep in the car in case we were stopped during a lesson.
Good luck
