hi aussiewannabe,

i also could not drive in london/ireland. i have had loads in ireland when i was younger but i could not do it!!

so we arrived here in brisbane, settled in birkdale, realized i just had to start.
i started a few weeks ago, have been having 2 -3 a week. it costs $40 a hour and it is going ok ( i think) maybe it is because i am older or something or that i really need to drive now. the roads are wider here and i think it is easier for some reason. i better not talk to soon as i have only had about 5.

by having 3 a week i think you will learn quicker.

i will let you know how i get on.

i need loads of luck

kate.

hi

i think it will take another few weeks (hoping!) not months. it is really easy to get a learners, all you have to do is go to the transport office with id, can't remember how much it costs but it was really cheap.

one thing i would recommend is to get a learners licence now in the uk as you have to have a learners for 6 months before you can take your test. i had a learners for years i london, used to drive a scooter, i lost my licence last christmas and only renewed it before we came over here (thought handy for id) so in the transport office it looks that i only have it since september. it does not bother me as i only started lessons a few weeks ago and the six months is nearly up. (i could have easily rang up dvla in swansea) it is really easy to transfer your licence from uk to queensland.

My son has been having manual lessons on the gold coast and they cost $47 for an hour lesson. He is just about to change to auto though because he cannot get on with gears! Not sure if the price is any cheaper for auto.
