See my earlier reply just up the screen OS I think this is a standard feature on most plasma TV's to stop this happening.

I would go for LCD, principally because of the burn out on plasma screens.

go into a tv/electronics store that plays MTV all day every day on their sets. swtich off one of the plasma screens - in almost all cases you can see the MTV logo burnt onto the plasma screen even when it is switched off.

Not if your watching a programme it doesn't....and the logo in the corner is what does the damage...

Why don't you rent a LCD or a Plasma TV for a few months first. See what you think about space, picture quality, etc, in your own home.

Suppose it would work for some people, but we needed a new tv and wanted to buy one

I've looked around, pre buying my rear pro dlp, I couldn't see any LCD's or Plasmas for hire, only CRT's. So I dont think there is an aussie market, for the general populace as least.

Apologies Tiamwamtu, for mixing up your gender

I think the price of rentals is concerning here; eg:
Radio Rentals LG - 66cm True Flat Widescreen Television
Brand new only $12.95 per week on an 18 month term ($1,010 total) - (Current cost today) compared to buying it:
LG 66cm Pure Flat Widesceen TV - LG ELECTRONICS RT28FZ85RX - $629.00

Has anyone rented here ? and terminated the agreement early ? I am curious to know what the "early termination fee for ending your contract" is.

I have a Radio Rentals leaflet here, and they say, Take out an 18 month agreement but continue paying for 36 months, and you can buy the item for ONLY $1 at the end. (Therefore.. My calculated total price for the above $629 TV is $2,021, if you want to keep it )

Check the burn in section of this
http://www.flattvpeople.com/tutorials/lcd-vs-plasma.asp

I have been waiting patiently for organic LED displays. In theory they are far better than anything else. They have been making demonstration ones since 2000. Can't help wondering if the manufacturers and determined to get their money back after tooling up for Plasma and LCD screens, before they manufacture Oled screens.
