YOUNG children are hooked on adult dramas. And researchers are worried it could be bad for their mental health.
A La Trobe University study released yesterday found almost half of children aged five and six regularly watched adult dramas.
Their TV diet included sitcoms and soaps such as Neighbours, The Simpsons, Seinfeld and Home and Away.
Almost 30 per cent of four-year-olds also watched them.
One in 10 children watched the news and 7 per cent were hooked on game shows.
One parent said her four-year-old son planned his day around game shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
"We'd veg out in front of TV and I'd be thinking she was so young it didn't really matter."
Some children in the study had watched the same video more than 100 times. One child had watched the same video every day for a year.
