So now i have promised him when we get to Australia we will get a dog like Milly (English springer) so now his over the moon and can't wait to go. Never had a dog before what have a done!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else promised there children any think when they get to Australia to help with the moving. Stacey xx We can relate. My daughters 7 & 4 recently looked after a friends cat and unfortunately my eldest appears to be allergic to them. So attached they got to this cat we had to say we will get a dog instead. As we stay in an apartment and the weather is most of the time too hot for dogs the girls know they can only get a dog when we move to Oz next year. I do agree it makes accepting the move alot easier. They are already talking about names and what the dog must look like. Even though they can't quite grasp the fact that a year is a long way a way, they still have endless anticipation for getting the dog and keep saying are we going to the airport tomorrow :) |

We said "we might get a dog and we would get a trampoline". They can nag for a dog as much as they like - not getting one, the trampoline? well on our 1:10 slope of a garden, they know we're not getting one of those either :D God, it must be tough being a child of ours :p |
Re: Kids
No pools or dogs or trampolines promised, thought I was doing well....too well in fact.
At 12 and 9 I quashed fears by saying of course they would still be seeing family - now the kids alternate, one child goes overseas every 12 months or so during holidays. It costs a fortune of course, but worth it to us, glad I only have two of the bleeders though. Cheers PS - we now have two dogs, a large pool and a trampoline as well :) Wish I had promised only that it might have been cheaper. |
Re: Kids
We promised the kids a hamster to replace the one they left behind..........only to find that hamsters are non-existant in Australia  We ended up with a guinea pig instead. :)

Our 2 1/2 year old asked whether there were " slopes, rides and toy cars "... fortunately we should just about be able to meet his requirements ! I wish I had his simplistic attitude to the whole process...I will work on it. ;)

Re: Kids
I have promised my boys psp's. They are 7 +4 and cannot wait, but to be honest they are both more excited about swimming in the sea, surfing and the wildlife. They will come in handy at the airport and on the plane though. :)

We've promised our 2 girls (8 and 5) a new bike each (they need them anyway :D ) and that we'll go swimming with dolphins.
A dog was mentioned - several times - but that's a 'we'll see' - and we all know that means. ;) Lou xx |

Stacey xx Our daughter wants a horse and our son a quad - so I guess we'd better buy some acreage, and hope the dog avoids the wildlife. |

They loved Australia last year on our reccie trip. Unfortunately after years of begging our daughter got her first dog a year and half ago, we knew we were going to OZ but took the cost on-board. (our daughter was very unhappy as we had just moved). She loved our dog "buddy" and looked after him took him to dog training every Saturday and he became her best friend, he then dropped dead with a heart defect. So yes we have promised her a dog as soon as we get over ( August next year we hope). Swimming with dolphins was on our list of to do's on our reccie but I got cold feet (bit scared of great whites due to a couple of stories friends told me, idiot I know). We did meet Steve Erwin though, sons hero ( Uncle in Brisbane arranged it) he was at Australia zoo on good Friday, our son spent an hour silent with his jaw open it was great. Cheryl |

[QUOTE=stacey and jordan]Hi has anyone promised there
I have promised my 7 year old 2 dogs, and he already has a name for each of them. Scooby and scrappy. MmM. I have always said when naming pets you should be able to yell the name in public without being conscious of sounding like a noodle. I have also promised I won't spend as much time at work and that he will have a big, well bigger than what we have, backyard. |
Re: Kids
