Default Kelkoo in Aus? Sick of Harvey and Norm any other choice

Title says it all...

Ruddy Harvey and Norman they are the home of discounts you know...... unless it gets too complicated for them and you want to spend Lots of money in several different Dept's (each dept is a different franchise if you get my drift) so no discounts for lots of money. very frustrating for Mr pom.

Is there any price check web site such as Kelkoo in Australia

They are all much the same if you ask me. The only thing to be said for places like Harvey Norman is you have more ability to get after sales issues resolved. You might find cheaper goods but not always at a place you can go back to later if you have a problem. If you live in a big city you might try going to one of the less salubrious areas and see what things are being sold for out there. You might be surprised to find the same goods cheaper. Not saying this is always true but it is a well known fact the big supermarket chains charge different prices for the same items depending on the outlet. Surprise, surprise - supermarkets in the "wealthy" suburbs charge more than in the less well off areas.

Back in blighty they were accused of charging more in the council schemes due to the captive audience!

If you cannot buy the same item elsewhere 33pct cheaper, than anything you see in Harvey Norman, Then there is something badly amiss with your shopping skills.

Any high st Furniture shop for furniture.... Will be probably be more than 33 pct cheaper. There are some really good niche shops around as well.

Electricals slighly trickier.... JB Hi Fi for starters..... TV's and Stereos, followed by Dick Smiths... both at least 30 pct cheaper..... If your after High end stuff. that HN doesn't do... nor the others Mentioned... Start in Melbourne at Carlton Audio Visual... and try and find elsewhere or come back to them.

White goods... Whatever harvey Norman has.... The good guys and clive peters will get cheaper..... Retravision is slightly more expensive than those two...

The only reason Harvey Norman exists, is for that 24 month interest free payment... that people pay in the original purchase price anyway.

Go to harvey norman... where everything is under one roof.... make a list of what is on offer... than if you are filling a house... save yourself at least 5,000 (on 18,000 bucks at HN) bucks by shopping elsewhere.

Worst rip of shop in Aussie.... Even Myers and David Jones arn't as blatant as them.

Whoops

Feel for you we have been here since Oct last year..... Still struggling where to get stuff. Woolies and Big W fr average quality and specialist shops for Quality.....

Wish Tesco would buy Coles then possibly a bit of competition rather than the cartel situation? or most likely Tesco would slip comfortably into the Cartel

I just fancied putting it out there to see what others thought of Harvey and Norm.

Damn Rip off

We have talked about HN at work... and cannot work out who buys there. I was out last night at a BBQ, and one of the people there was a the Warehouse Manager for HN Sunshine. He said the vast majority of their business are people filling up brand new houses, on Estates like Caroline Springs and through Deer Park onto Melton. I suppose if you have used up all your cash on moving into a new place... It's not very appealing to sit in a half empty house with 2nd hand furniture, when you can get 4 years interest free at Harvey Norman now I can understand that Kind of temptation.... It's parasitic though.

We actually thought we'd done really well at the time, as we got all the 5 year warranties thrown in, plus some money off , but in hindsight, we probably just paid an average price.
Trouble is when you're new, you find a decent shop & stick with it. Especially with 2 screaming kids in tow, which adds to the "lets just buy it & get out of here" factor

I would totally agree with this but to my amazement whilst searching for a Plasma I attended all the usual, Good Guys, JBHIFI, Harvey Norman, retrovision and wrote down all the ticket prices for the style of plasma we wanted. When I checked through I found Harvey Norman were cheaper on 2 models and only about $100 difference on others, there was one where Harvey was nearly $1000 dearer that was on an expensive plasma needless to say I did not purchase that one. (still looking so any advice).
