I saw my first Kangaroos here:-

Koala Park
84 Castle Hill Rd, WEST PENNANT HILLS
Ph: 02 9484 3141 Email: [email protected]

also
Featherdale Wildlife Park
217-229 Kildare Rd, DOONSIDE NSW 2767
Ph: 02 9622 1644
A natural bushland park, home to one of Australia's largest collection of native animals, including 30 endangered species. There are face-to-face encounters with kangaroos, wallabies, and emus.

They may not be wild though.

I live in the Northern Beaches and whenever my friends or family came to visit we use to take them to Waratah National Park which was the home of Skippy. This was closed down last year because the kangaroos were neglected. However another great place where there are wild kangaroos is a place called Pebbly Beach. Its about 12kms North of Batemans Bay. The kangaroos live on the beach and they are tame because of all the visitors that go to see them. I think it would make a nice day trip to take your family

Waratah National Park has re-opened: with nicer people. We went there about 5 months ago and did a night-walk where you get escorted around by a man with a torch. They also have some skippy memorabelia.

Cheers

Just had Father in Law over for three weeks and his greatest desire was to see Kanagaroos in the Wild!

Anyway after driving around Ku ring gai National Park and us spotting numerous dead on the roads and one live one (he missed them all). We decided his wild kangaroo spotting was very limited so we took him to the Australian Reptile Park in Gosford....brilliant! We as a family have been there four times in the 2.5 years we have been here and enjoyed it every time. There are numerous free range kangaroos to pet and watch and it makes for a great photo/video opportunity. The other thing that park has is great shows on spiders and reptiles...excellent day for all ages, we also saw Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Dingos and numerous Lizards...we now even know the name of the lizard that lives in our Garden!

For wild kangaroos best places we have been are at sunset up near Port Stephens 3 hours drive! Ku ring gai National Park and Blue Mountains. Though last time in the Blue Mountains we only spotted the one lonely kangaroo in a field of sheep!

If you want to know more about the places to go in Ku ring gai let me know. We have a yearly pass and still have not got tired of the places to visit and picnic and walk.

Cheers Sandra

If you have time, head down to Jervis Bay, about 1 1/2 hours south of Sydney, wild roo's, parakets etc and fantastic scenery, Green Patch is part of the national park there, very beautiful and has fab coastline, great for dolphin watching too, one of my all time favourites umm can feel a trip to Sydney coming on..........

The best way to see wild Kangaroos is at night , on the back of a ute with a spotlight and a high powered rifle.

My Brother-in-law would agree totally with you there!!

Most in my parts believe the best place for wild roo's is as a hood ornament for your car....
