Re: Just a suitcase!
We're not shipping anything, we haven't really got anything worth taking! Most of our stuff is second hand anyway so it's on it's last legs. Will take my laptop (of course :D) and clothes and photos but that's about it, just stuff we can fit in our cases really.

I often read posts of people shipping out all their belongings but I dont think anyone has gone with just their suitcase. Hubby and I are doing just that selling all our worldly goods except photos if we are going to start a new life we might as well go the full hog we see ourselves as brave and on an adventure all our friends think that we are quite mad!! Love to hear if anyone has done it or what you all think. NM Sold our house in the UK so that gave us the capital to start here,we have everything & more than we had in the UK but we are now making ends meet  The bills are paid & food on the table..im happy :) Donna. |

Re: Just a suitcase!
Hi
When we get our visas we are not taking anything with us either, just the clothes in our suitcases, and me, :) the OH and four kids. We want to start afresh, we will be keeping things like photos and sentimental things but they will stay with the MIL until we get sorted. Lots of people have told us that we are mad not to take stuff with us, but we are kind of excited about it. We have never been to Oz, never been further south than the Canary Islands and further north than Birmingham. I think we are mad. Shelly |

Re: Just a suitcase!
We're just taking personal stuff, but we still managed to ship about 280cu feet of stuff. We haven't taken any furniture - but with clothes, computers, toys etc - it soon adds up. Most important thing for us was that Josh had a bit of familiarity - if we'd have been sprogless we would almost certainly have gone the suitcase route. :)

Hiya
We're not shipping any furniture or anything, just stuff like collectibles (mostly toys), DVDs (about 800 of them) and photos etc. Our furniture is just crappy IKEA stuff and not worth paying the shipping for! I like the idea of starting anew with nothing, but hubby won't give up his DVD collection for anything... Rach |

Rach We didn't have a lot of money to bring over as we hadn't sold our house but compared to the cost of shipping it worlked out wellfor us. As long as you don't want everything NOW which is a bit of the society we live in. As we were renting at first we didn't spend a fortune on furniture and things the only big expense was the solid King Size bed and matress. Everything else we got for fantastic prices 6pce dining table $199 still with us now after 3 years! Friends that shipped lots of things over had to buy things to keep them going. They were here for about 8 weeks without their things after they were messed around (regulars to this site will guess which company they went with). The week before everything arrived the guy said to me I don't know what we have sent as it was so long ago and we've managed to get everything we need already = One big gargage full of boxes not even opened!
