Re: Just Started
Hi,I started our adventure in August! It takes a while to get to know your way around-this site is fab though!I have learnt loads through this.
You need to decide the area in Aus you're looking at.Wife being a hairdresser helps-she will need her certificates to pass a skills assessment.I qualified as hairdresser late 80's,tried to trace them now and its almost impossible. If she has her certs will be easier.
There are many types of visas, can be a mine field.I haven't used an agent so have been gallons of Internet searches! Very useful tool!
Let us know where your looking at and see if I have sites I can post to you.
Also how soon you're looking to go-certain visa s are prioritised!
Otherwise you can be looking at -3 months for skills assessment-TRA.Then a further year for Visa.Sponsorship from a state I have found to be fairly quick,a couple of weeks.
Good luck on your adventure! Its stressful but hopefully worth it!

Re: Just Started
Someone above has sent you a recent DIMIA post-states work experience may be overlooked for hairdressers.Have a look as WILL be useful.
To start with I would have a look at DIMIA sites to get familiar with the visas etc.New docs come out on 1st July with revised levels-points etc.
Book 6 is one of the first things you should read, gives loads of info, about 60 pages long but can download free from site.
When you have questions that pop up-post a thread on here and normally someone will reply, there are us lot who are going through applications, those in Aus who have done it,and also get some immigration agents on here.
