Angry Just received a letter from insurance company.

We claimed for settees and a stereo tuner.

They've given us £70 for the tuner as they claim they are doing us a favour as stereos depreciate quickley and they think general use has caused the buttons to be crushed.

Not only that they say they have charged us £12 for a foreign bankers draft when enclosed is a standard cheque for sterling, with you guessed it the £12 charge taken off. So they've charged us £12 for a cheque out of a cheque book.

The letter also claimed that a bankers draft for $2000 is enclosed for the settees, well not unless it's fekking invisible it hasn't.

don't you just love insurance companies. Hope that they sort it out quickly as you have had enough c**p from this move to last a lifetime.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks. It has been a bit of a nightmare as we are still on the 457 visa so getting a credit card here was difficult. Finally got one through ANZ but he is happy as we haven't got our scary credit limit on the UK card any more, this one is much more sensible .
we have got our insurance claim going through at the moment, they have agreed to pay and we are now waiting for them to decide what the exchange rate needs to be set at as the policy is in euros. We will have to chase again after New Year but it isn't half as bad as yours so it isn't the end of the world.

Rachel has spoken with them they've apologised and said they don't know where the bankers draft is so will have to order a new one.

As for the tuner they ay as we can't pin down when we bought it they have to guess the age and they go on 33% deprciation each year you've owned it, so if you have it for three years it's worthless.

But we claimed we insured it for £250 and it doesn't say anything about that on their application form, they were quite happy to take 3% 0f £250 to insure it so that's what they should be paying out.

Just spoken with the insurance company again who still haven't ordered the bankers draftand have now agreed to send a cheque to my Uk bank.

I'm still a tad miffed about the stereo tuner as I insured it for £250 at 3% which is £10.50 they want to pay me £70 which means I've paid more like 15% they can't seem to grasp this and can't understand why I'd want the amount I insured it for
