We are gonna get there on WHV next month, and really wish to know what should we do as we enter ?
Any legal things?

Apply for a TFN as soon as you arrive - you can do it online but you'll need an address - hotel address will be fine initially.

2 Get a bank account.

3 Apply for a Medicare card

4 Get a Oz driving licence, you will need proof of an Oz residential address.

Sorry, I did't notice that U were a WHV. U can still apply for a Medicare card at any center linl office, but I wouldn't bother. You will only need one if you need medical care, and you can still get one after you have had the medical services you need.

Totally what are my choices? I'm not familiar with OZ meds system, but ummm! is there any choice better or cheaper than medicare? some private solutions? why when we think of Meds everyone talks about medicare ?!

Which country are you from? If you are from a country with reciprocal healthcare arrangements with Australia then you can get a medicare card otherwise you will have to cover doctor expenses yourself. Joining up with private medical insurance may not be practical as they have waiting periods before they cover anything major anyway.

If you are from The Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Holland, Malta or Italy then you can join medicare for free just present yourself at a medicare office with passport.
