I liked it a lot when I was there (4 months). Only saw QLD and a bit of Sydney though. In particular I love the outdoors life and the way it seemed to be easier to see nature - the Great Barrier Reef, the tropical rainforest, the trails and hikes etc. We got up close with a lot of beasties incl cassowary. I felt a lot...healthier there.

"Wonderful" is not enough, now I come to think of it. "Faultless" is how I would describe it. I wonder why more do not emigrate. Forms are a bit complex though and two heads are better than one.

The new reformed dotty

Due to an overdose of terminal whining about my gutsy ballsy get out in the real OZ posts. I have decided to post only "good info'

Today my post is about birds.

From my office I can see a yellow and blue budgie, the wild ones here are much bigger than the English caged type. On tuesday we were awoken by a large Owl which had settled on our verandah post to sleep for the day. Life here is simply amazing.

Hopefully that info was far more useful than those stupid property tips I keep giving. :D :D :D

Nice one. Did you know the word "budgerigar" is an aboriginal word meaning "good to eat"

There you go, more useful info on Oz!

Oz- Sun, sea, sand, supermarkets. Just what the doctor ordered.

If only it wasn't for those long and hard to understand forms.
Makes you wish there was someone to turn to who understands
the needs of today's emigrant but speaks the ordinary person's
language.

Wilf I cannot thank you enough for filling out my forms to Paradise.

How I would have worked out my name, where I worked and what my kiddies were called without you is hard to imagine.

Your $700 an hour fee is very reasonable considering the end result is me waking up every day and thinking I have had the biggest joint, woops sorry, opportunity to wake up in a nirvana like state in awe of my surrounding paradise every day.

Without you a life in paradise was a biro away. I would recommend you to anyone considering the ulitmate utopia experience.

Dotty and my sunkissed family of little brown urchins running naked in the sand dunes.

Thank you Dotty. It is for testimonials like this that I keep my agency going, despite a lot of the negativity these days, and my testimonials are better than many around these parts.

I am awarding you a $100 discount voucher off your next emigration, so enjoy it with thanks from us here at WM.

Will the forum become pointless.

Several polls on here determined that majority wanted all types of posts good or bad.

Yet once again the" Lets Pump up OZ" to only have good info minority seem to be winning again.

Its been pointed out this is the lifestyle forum and the jokers and lifestyles do not post on the immo forum.

All humour now is determined as junk?
All negative is deleted?

What is the point?

I have one question, without the characters here and real live residents of OZ how many will continue to browse censored, only the good type posts?????? Do you want that have your say.

What stood this forum apart was the honesty and the personalities that it was not yet another monotone censored forum run by somebody with perhaps an interest financial in immigration.

I quite agree. What people want is REAL information. Here is some:

In winter, if you live in Queensland, you only have to mow your lawn once a fortnight.

I do hope that was of some help.

You are sounding bitter here. You are risking deletion, especially given the humour. This will not suit the advertising at all.

Fantastic. We now have all the attention-seeking, whinging Aussie bashers in one thread. All we need now is Ceri, Megalania and Pommie Bastard for a full set.

Here's a suggestion. Why don't you all just limit yourselves to this thread from now on. That will keep the rest of the board clear for people who want to discuss A&NZ Lifestyle and Culture.

Seriously people, it is getting tedious. I've been through the immigration process, I've lived in Australia for seven months. I might not know everything there is to know about the country but I'm now in the category in which many would-be migrants will find themselves in 6-12 months time. I read and contribute to this forum partly because I am now able to provide people with the sort of information that I was looking for a year or so ago.

The forum is now being used as a sounding board for people who have decided for one reason or another that Australia is not for them. Fair enough, if you can't get on in Australia then by all means share the reasons in a rational way. But by trashing almost every post you come across is of no use to anyone but your own ego. I know about half a dozen people who moved here at about the same time as I did. They are pretty much content with their new lives. They used to contribute to this forum but now they don't bother because their posts just get trashed. I'm still lurking but I don't know for how much longer.

There is a forum on this site called The Lounge. If you want to make small talk then do it there.

This whole thread is so pointless I could not bear to read it all.

Anyway Australia is not utopia.

It would be UTOPIA if only we were allowed to keep the odd hamster or two.
