IT Jobsites / Recruitment agencies in melbourne
Good morning one and all,
Can anybody help. I have my visa ( I have had it since May 2000 to be honest) and am going to be heading over to Melbourne in the next 12 months. I am trying to find out which are the best agencies to go thorugh to gain employment in the IT field.
Does anybody know of any that are specific to melbourne, or any national ones that cover melbourne or any web based ones that cover melbourne. I know of Monster (if its still going) but wonder of anyone can point me in the right direction so I can start my research and touching base with some people.
If anybody is currently in melbourne (or anywhere else for that matter) and is able to shed some light on the tricky path of job hunting I would be most grateful. I don't expect to get anything before I arrive but to have made some contacts, maybe circulated a few CV's may stand me in good stead and can't do any harm.
Any advice would be Grrrreeeeaaaaattttt.
Cheers
Ian

just curious thought they gave you a "entry by" date

The Seek website lists all jobs from most good agencies in one convenient location - you can even register and get them to email you suitable jobs on a daily basis.

CareerOne seems ok.
I have also directly mailed my CV to a couple, Hudson & Icon. They each mailed me back regarding a job. I called them & they have been helpful & have then called me back straight away but then they say read this job spec let me know if your interested & we will call you back again but they don't seem to respond to email, so unless you actally get hold of the person dealing with the postion it's a case of staying up & trying to catch them on the phone.
FWIW - I was given a brief technical interview by the agency for one job before they would give me any more info & once this was done & they were happy they sent me the job spec & said it would require a further tech. interview with the agency then @4 with the company the last being in Australia only at which time would they offer the job.

Hello jtimkey
Many thanks for the concern m8. I have validated my visa. Granted May 2000, entered Oz in Oct 2000 and have until 23 Jun 2005 to land permanently.
That was the one thing I most DEFINATELY made sure I got right timescale wise.
Its all go ready for a land in the next 12 months.
Yippee
Thanks as well to pom_uk and LeaB for your replies. The more info I can get the better to try and get a head start on a job before I get there.
