jobs for Bob and me.
Hi all, does anyone want to offer me a landscape gardening job, or a social worker job for my girlfriend. I can assure you that it would be very much appreciated, and if it was in Rotorua then you could count on getting a Christmas card every year for at least 20 years such would be my gratitude.

You can buy landscaping franchises in nz and it is a way of getting into nz aswell or why dont you get the nz yellow pages on line and email all the landscaping companies with your cv and cover letter. Thats how my brickie hubby got a job offer when we applied

Did he get the job offer before moving to NZ? And if yes, what about the licence, I believe all trades persons have to obtain the licences first before starting on the job.
Read in a thread about some companies hiring trades persons in Oz even though they have still not obtained the licence, wonder how true is that.

You may be interested in reading the New Licensing System information from the QLD Building Services Authority
an extract is:
From 1 September 2003, licensees that only contract to Trade Contractors and who never contract to a Builder or the public cannot be prosecuted for unlicensed contracting.

Hi ABC Diamond,
Thanks for your reply too, my question was in general for all trades persons.
My hubby is a Aircon & Refrig.Mechanic, what do you think the situation is for this trade in Melbourne, do they need a licence before starting work or can he start working before getting one.
Apologies to rotoruarob for taking this thread away from his original question, I am sure you will recv. a reply from ABC he is a great help on this site.

I feel that anyone who works for a subcontractor as an employee appears not to need a licence. At least thats how I read the QLD BSA information.
I also base this theory on the fact that only an experienced person can get a license, but they need to be able to work and gain the experience to get the license.
Therefore they must work without a license to get the experience.
And once they are licensed they are able to become self employed, but not before.
I think that for rotoruarob, sky's suggestion is a good one.
I don't know much about NZ other than it is to the right of OZ and down a bit
