Default Job market Perth

One more question

Can anyone offer any information on the state of the Perth job market?

We have just arrived and my partner is looking to find work in either IT, project managment or sport and rec. We have only started looking at the job vacancies last Saturday - but the vacancy section of the paper seems to be very thin!

Also does anyone know about future planned redundancies being made in the Structural Engineering sector?

Cheers again with any information.

Mining and Oil and Gas have taken a bit of a hit lately with a few lay offs and pay cuts. Couple of projects in the offing but there are plenty of Engineers around Perth at the moment that would more than likely get first dibs ahead of newbies. In this game its more who you know unfortunately.

Have you looked at seek.com.au?? They are the biggest job site on the internet. It might also be worth getting some advice on resumes, and how to stand out from the crowd (in a good way obviously!). I arrived 12 weeks ago and started work this week after applying for over 50 jobs. It might also be a good thing to try and get temp work as an 'in' with companies. Keep ploughing away and good luck!!
