The second company have confirmed that an offer will be sent by email next week ! Also, the first company are waiting for the last reference before they make an offer so it looks like I will have two 457 offers ;)

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions !

Either way, just the visa hurdle to jump now by the looks of it ;)

@Graham and Maria: thanks for the links....very useful. I will come back to them if these offers do not prevail !

I now have two offers on the plate ! What a way to end the week ;)

As I write this, I am sat at work in the UK looking at everyone without a care in the world...just the visa hurdle to jump now...

Are medicals/police checks required for a 457 ? I had read a few people's posts that have had 457 visas granted within 10 days !

I really don't know anything about 457's to be honest, but I think you do need a medical. Not sure if they are as in depth as for a PR visa though? I'm sure someone will be able to answer though.

That feeling is the best isn't it, I remember it well  I hope that you are as happy in Aus as I have been for the past 4 and half years :)

Congratulations Colonel,

with regard to medicals and police checks it varies.

Medicals are only required if you are going to be working in a hospital or school environment, or coming from a high risk category country. Police check required if you have a criminal record.

When we applied for our 457 we were told by the agent that they would be required so we paid to get them. When we actually applied the Department said we didn't need them - wasted a coupe of hundred pounds.

Thanks...will wait until asked for the medicals. It feels too good to be true to be honest and I am waiting for something to go wrong that will jeopardise our plans.
