Red face Jetski advice

I've conviced my fiance not to import a kit car, but he's now decided we should get a jetski... any advice on the best one to get for 2 people?

Cheers!

Don't worry.. it's not on the Gold Coast or anything to ruin divers' pleasures - only Melbourne! Seriously though, do you mean nuisance to others or to owners? Should we opt for the kit car??

Means a nuisance to everyone else - I agree in spades! Yahoos zooming around offshore "showing off" (although why they should think of it that way is beyond me) ruin it for everyone quite apart from the danger to the swimmers.

A lot of people who get them find they are a bit of a white elephant. Great for the first couple of weekends then it's pretty much 'hmm, not much else you can do on a jetski is there'

Someone told me that you need a license for a jet ski so it may be another thing for you to look into.

This is another State run thing:

Victoria for example quotes:
Recreational boat operators under the age of 21 years and all operators of Personal Water Craft (PWC's), more commonly known as Jet Ski's require a licence.
http://www.biavic.com.au/sections/ma...lay.asp?pid=15

QLD:
From 1 January 2006 to operate a personal watercraft (PWC) or jet ski you must hold a PWC licence. You must hold a current and valid marine licence, before being able to get a PWC licence.

Yes I am when you consider most of the ways they are operated (and I said MOST, not ALL). A lot of operators appear to have no regard for other water users or beach users for that matter - and no, I'm not a beach user. When you watch them on the likes of the broadwater, I'd defy any of them to spot a swimmers head in the water at the speeds they go at. About time they were licenced and I'm pleased that has happened in Qld now

I know what you mean about having no regard for other water way users. We were at the beach yesterday and this guy went past on a jet ski and on the back he had a woman in a bikini. Not once did come close into the shore so that I could have a closer look...........

If you take binoculars to the beach you'll find that you don't have that issue again.
